5 Easy Steps to Make Fitness Fit into your Life

So, you’ve heard that going to gym is a pretty healthy thing to do. You now have a gym membership and the motivation to match. For the first couple of weeks, it is easy to get to the gym. It’s the new shiney thing in your life and you’ve told too many people that you have a gym membership to not go to the gym. You’re in a really good place and then, BOOM! All of a sudden, that one workout that you have missed turns into two and now you’ve missed a week! What happened? How can you possibly fit fitness into your seemingly ever-expanding schedule? Here are 5 easy steps to make fitness fit into your life.

Go in the Morning

Go to the gym in the morning before you’re too exhausted from work, kids, traffic, etc.., to put any extra effort into anything else. This is a sure way to get a workout in with a great sense of accomplishment and it will leave you feeling awake and ready for the rest of the day!

Have a Gym Buddy

Make a commitment with a friend from work, the neighborhood, or book club, to meet a couple of times a week! Having an accountabilibuddy will not only help keep you on track with your fitness goals, but your gym buddy as well!

Go to Group Fitness Classes

Going to a group fitness class is a great way to ensure that you get a fun and timely workout. Getting to see the instructors and other gym goers is an awesome opportunity to make new friends and it will help you to feel more comfortable with the equipment and asking questions about exercises.

Set Visual Cues

As silly as this may sound, putting your running shoes by your bedroom door may be the only thing that gets you to go for that run before work. By setting visual cues, you will be much more likely to remember that you should go for a run because that may be what your brain associates with fitness and health. It will also help to remind you of the commitment you may have made to yourself to get in shape!

Set Gym Attendance Goals for Yourself

Whether its twice a week or 6 times a week, one of the best things you can do to make sure that you will get to the gym is to set a goal for yourself and write it down. After its written down, put it somewhere that you pass by often like your bathroom mirror or on the outside of the refrigerator! Start with something that you know that you can manage and slowly increase the number of times you want to get to the gym as you learn how to work it into your schedule! Find what works for you and run with it!

Learning how to make fitness fit into your life it integral in becoming more fit and healthier. The only thing stopping you from getting to your dream bod is, more often than not, consistency. With these tips, going to the gym more regularly will not only be a little easier, but it will seem more attainable!
