Active Rest Days, Have Some Fun!

Active Gym Goers

If you are an avid gym-goer, then you are probably hitting the gym to exercise day-in and day-out. This is absolutely great! But, do you ever find yourself fizzled out with no motivation to get to the gym? It is time to learn how to get outside of the gym four walls to get exercise, rest, and most importantly, avoid burnout!

Now, many have heard the term burnout, but what does burnout mean? We consider burnout in the gym world to be when a person is lacking in motivation, doesn’t have an appetite, or is unusually tired! A good personal trainer will recognize the symptoms of a burnout client. Just when the client is starting to feel that little flame of motivation slipping away, the trainer says it: “Rest Day!”

Need an Active Rest Day

To some, the term “rest” day means to sit, do nothing, and just chill out all day. This may be appropriate in some cases, but most trainers would tell you differently. At NoCo Fitness, the personal trainers have a different idea of a rest day. We actually want you to have “active” rest days!

Active rest is just another way of saying, get out, do something different, and go have some fun! Go for a bike ride in that great weather; go play at the park with the kids; enjoy a hike; go bowling. It doesn’t matter what it is. Just get up, and go have some fun!

That feeling of burnout won’t last forever if you allow yourself to enjoy life a little! Doing the same routine day in and day out can get really boring and monotonous very quickly. Don’t let all of your hard work go away due to a few days of being burnt out. It’s a totally natural feeling. So, this is your trainer speaking: “Get that rest day in, and go have some fun!”
