The right type of exercise can be the difference between life and death. After having a heart attack, you should join an organized program that will help keep your body safe from future complications such as another one! For many people this means going through Cardiac Rehabilitation which has been shown time-and again to produce faster recoveries with fewer side effects or risk factors for illness in general compared against non participation rates among patients who did seek medical attention after their initial event occurred.
What is Cardiac Rehabilitation?
Cardiac rehab is a carefully supervised program that helps you regain your strength and energy after a heart attack, heart surgery, or other procedures to treat heart problems. The program includes exercise, education, counseling, and support to help you return to as normal and healthy a lifestyle as possible.
Cardiac rehabilitation has three phases.
Phase I begins while you are still in the hospital. The focus is on helping you recover from your heart event and preventing further problems.
Phases II and III are where NoCo Fitness in Greeley, Colorado can help!!
Phase II starts when you leave the hospital. You will work with a cardiac rehabilitation team to create an exercise program that is right for you.
Phase III is a lifelong maintenance program. Once you have completed the first two phases, you can continue to exercise on your own or join a long-term cardiac rehabilitation program.
The goals of cardiac rehab are to:
– help you feel better
– regain strength and energy
– return to normal activities as soon as possible after your heart event
– reduce your risk of having another heart attack or other heart problems
– improve your overall health
Cardiac rehabilitation has been shown to:
– decrease the chance of dying from a heart attack
– increase survival after a heart attack
– decrease the number of hospitalizations for chest pain or heart problems
– improve quality of life
– decrease depression and anxiety
– help people return to work
Cardiac rehab can be an important part of your recovery. It will help you get back to your daily activities and reduce your risk of having another heart attack or other heart problems.
What Can you Expect from a Cardiac Rehab Exercise Program?
Cardiac rehabilitation can improve your cardiovascular fitness through physical activity. Your personal training team may recommend low-impact exercises, such as walking, cycling, rowing, and jogging, which have a lower risk of injury.
You’ll usually work out three days each week on average. Your personal training team will show you how to do proper exercises, including how to warming up and cool down.
To improve your muscular fitness, you may also do muscle-strengthening activities like lifting weights or other resistance training exercises two or three times each week.
Don’t be concerned if you’ve never lifted weights before. Your personal training team will ensure that the program is both enjoyable and safe for you.
