Chris’ experience taking golf lessons

When I was learning the game of golf, I took golf lessons with a golf pro at a local golf retailer. The golf pro used a fancy indoor video program to record my golf swing. After I warmed up and hit a few golf balls the instructor would playback my golf swing and talk through what I needed to work on. He would draw lines all over my swing and say that I needed to rotate further this way, and keep my head steady, and not let my hips move side to side. If you’ve taken golf lessons you might have experienced a similar conversation.

What are movement limitations?

Here’s the thing, for many people our bodies don’t have the ability to move like the PGA tour players. Some of us struggle to rotate our shoulders, or to rotate our shoulders without moving our hips. One of my big issues I learned this past week is that I struggle to internally rotate my legs. This means on my downswing after I make contact with the golf ball I struggle to rotate my body around my front leg. If you can’t rotate properly one solution is to lose golf posture and stand up a little during the backswing. Or if both your hips and shoulders want to move at the same time, you’ll lose power and distance.

Improve your body, improve your golf game

Learning the TPI methodology and movement assessment is going to improve my ability to help our golfers. Because, once we identify a movement limitation we can now go about fixing it. This should help our golf swing to be more consistent and for us to hit the ball further.

Improve your body, improve your golf game

Would it be okay if you had more distance with your clubs? Then let’s get our bodies working right so we can crush the golf ball. I would like to help each of you with your golf related fitness. If you’d like to go through the TPI movement screen to learn your limitations, please reach out and I will gladly be here for you.

As always, We are here to help you Look Better, Feel Better, and Move Better.

Now get out there and have fun with your fitness.
