As cold season is in now in full swing, I wanted to write this blog about a topic that I try to talk about with my clients often: exercising even when it might not be easy. Sometimes the best thing you can do is just get to the gym and sweat it out, and you’ll be thankful afterwards!
I used cold season as a reference earlier, because it is one of the most common reasons this time of year for people to miss their workouts. In reality, a lot of the time you will feel much better afterwards, rather than lying on your couch all day feeling sorry for yourself. Don’t get me wrong, there is definitely a time to lay on the couch feeling sorry for yourself. If you are nauseous, or throwing up, or something like that please stay at home. However; if you’ve got something like a minor head cold, you might have to dial back the intensity a bit, but just come to the gym and get your sweat on.
This concept doesn’t just extend to sickness either; whether you’re tired from the time change, or it’s too cold outside, or you’re getting ready for the holidays. There are tons of good excuses, but at the end of the day no matter what you have going on you will probably benefit from just coming to the gym and getting a workout in. It doesn’t take that much time, and you’ll feel better afterwards. Just remember to wipe down your equipment!
