Setting Goals: Realistic and Fun

Written on: January 14, 2019

Well, ladies and gentlemen, it is that time of year again. The New Year has come and gone, it is now about two weeks into 2019 and unfortunately there are probably already a great number of people who have given up on their New Year’s resolutions. I know what you’re thinking: “I already read a blog about New Year’s resolutions, why is there another blog about it this week??” PLOT TWIST: this is not about setting New Year’s resolution goals!

You are already in the gym, you are already working hard, and you put your nose to the grindstone every week to build muscle, burn fat, and get jacked. Therefore, you are not in need of a New Year’s resolution. You are in need of something else, and that something comes in the form of awesome, short term goals.

Short term goals are the bomb and here’s why.

1. Typically they are realistic goals. Not easy, but realistic.

2. You get to feel super awesome every month or every 3 months when you accomplish that goal.

3. Goals should be made more than once a year anyways!

Long story short, start thinking about new ambitions. These goals can be anything from wanting to add 5 pounds to your bench press to losing 1% body fat a month, but you need to set something for yourself. I have a few clients who want to accomplish goals such as wanting to plank for 2 minutes, or wanting to do pull ups, or just wanting to get super slim for summer events. Whatever the goal, talk to your trainer and start hitting the weights hard and with a purpose!

Thanks for coming to my TedTalk.
