Is a personal trainer right for you?
When walking into the gym, many people have no idea where to start. And, often times, this is what leads to them falling off down the road. The gym can be intimidating if you’re unsure of how the machines work, what muscles to work, and are afraid to ask someone, in fear of them judging you for not knowing how everything works. This is where having a personal fitness trainer can be a great idea. There are times when I will hear that personal training is expensive, or I just don’t want to have someone else tell me what to do, or the workouts they are having that person looks crazy and I can’t do that. Here is my answer to these statements, and why I think that everyone new to fitness should consider a personal trainer to at least begin with!
- It’s too expensive. In all reality, personal training is a luxury for most. It is something that you spend money on because you want to, not because you have to. And, although it can come at a price, let me ask you this. Have you ever invested in yourself? And, I don’t mean putting money in the stock market, hoping to make money off of it. No, I mean have you truly invested in yourself? Your health? Your well-being? If not, you should! It just might be the best investment you’ve ever made!
- I don’t want someone else telling me what to do. Well, sometimes that’s what we need. If I want to buy a house, I talk to a realtor. If I want financial advice, there are people for that. If I need my car fixed, I talk to a mechanic. The human body is no different. There are experts that have been through schooling, and have had hours of practice with many people, helping them to achieve their goals, whatever they may be. It is well worth getting the advice of someone that knows what they’re doing like a personal trainer, rather than relying on just Instagram workouts, that online forum on bodybuilding.com, or whatever other site they use.
- The workouts they are having that person do look crazy and I could never do that. Have you ever tried? Maybe you have. Maybe you haven’t. But, you truly do not know what you’re capable of unless you give it a shot! And, you may not be able to now, but if you tried, hopefully they can get you there!
So, the next time you are in the gym and wondering if a personal trainer is for you, just remember, sometimes we need to invest in ourselves and in our health. You never know. It may just be the best thing you’ve ever done.
