By now I am sure you have heard it all: your body is a machine, your body is a temple, your body is this, and your body is that blah, blah, blah. Today we are going to look at this a different way and approach how we think about our bodies in what is hopefully a rejuvenating fashion.
Your Body Is A House
Your body is not a skateboard, it is not a car, and it is not an office. Your body is a house. The reason I make this connection is because I am currently in the middle of a remodel of my own house and to be honest, I had no idea that there were so many freaking components to composing a simple living space. I thought it was walls, roof, toilet, and bed. But, as is your body, a house is SO MUCH more than just a few walls and a roof!
Inner Workings Of The House
First, let’s address the inner workings of the house. If you want to have a properly working heater or plumbing in your house what do you do? That’s right, you do maintenance work. You either hire someone or you get in there on your hands and knees and do the dirty work yourself. I want you to think about all the inner workings of your house aka the body as nutrition. In order for your metabolism (or heater) to be firing off correctly you need to be eating the right foods at the right times! I am not going to go into that much detail about the “plumbing” in your house because there are people paid more than me to discuss that, however, the same concept applies. Basically, anything you want to work correctly in your body needs the daily maintenance of a good and healthy diet.
Exterior Of The House
Next we are going to look at the outside of the house. The walls, the paint, the windows, the doors, you name it, all of these components are key to making your house look exactly how you want it. Your body can be altered and changed just like the paint color on a house can be and if you want to change it, do something about it. The gym is where you can change the “paint” and “outside qualities” of the house that is your body. Of course, every house needs a strong foundation so make sure you are hitting core!
Long story short here people, the body is your house, and it should be under constant remodel and construction. You should always be hungry for the next alteration in your life and ready to chase your next goal.
